Israel is located on the northwest edge of the Arabian Plate on the west side of the Dead Sea Fault (DSF) and extends west to the Levant margin on the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea and south to the Gulf of Elat.

 

Deep Triassic formations are similar to the oil producing Palmyra in Syria and in Meged field in Israel.

 

Positive production test in the neighboring field Meged 6 (14.25 km from Ofek 2ST well) produced 6,239 bbls of 41o API oil between the 24th October and the 4th November 2016
